Overcoming Challenges: Finding Strength in Difficulty

A drama for Dutch international Aniek Nouwen. The 26-year-old PSV defender had just made her return after a long-term injury, but has now torn another cruciate ligament.

Nouwen, who played 43 times for the Dutch team, tore her cruciate ligament in her right knee two years ago. At the time, she was under contract with Chelsea, where she followed a long recovery process.

“This is very hard, especially now that I was just allowed to play again,” says Nouwen. “I had left a difficult period behind me and now I am suddenly in the middle of it again. Nevertheless, I will do everything I can to come back stronger.”
