First news of the year 2026 from Olympic: Thomas Jurkovitz’s contract has been extended until the end of January. The club made this decision because Jonathan Kazadi (foot) and Antonio Ballard (calf) have still not returned to play: if all goes well, the Bernese and the American, who have started training again, will be on the field next Saturday.
For this first match of the year played at the Vallée de la Jeunesse in front of several dozen Friborg supporters who made the trip, Olympic produced an almost perfect copy in defense: only 41 points conceded away!
Our identity is defense
Met after the game, the Olympic captain was obviously satisfied with the performance achieved during this restart match. Natan Jurkovitz:
I will be awarded the MVP
Against the Vaudois, all the Friborg players scored at least one basket. Special mention to Mezie Offurum: the American, who has just extended his contract until the end of the season, achieved a double-double in 28 minutes of play: 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite 22 lost balls, Thibaut Petit’s players were never in difficulty. They brought such intensity into the game that Pully, although 5th in the championship, often seemed to be stifled by Olympic.
Two meetings in January
For Olympic, the next match is scheduled for next Saturday (December 10 at 5:30 p.m.) against Lugano at Saint-Léonard: a venue in which it remains undefeated this season. The Fribourgeois will then have two important meetings in this month of January: a quarter-final of the Swiss Cup against these same Ticino residents on January 17 at the Istituto Elvetico then the Final Four of the Coupe de la Ligue in Montreux with a semi-final (Saturday January 31 at 2 p.m. then possibly in the final on February 1 at 4 p.m.) against Union Neuchâtel, the only team to have beaten Olympic this season.
