Olympic Champion Exits Tour of Four Bridges | Performance Update

The former world champion from the middle bridge did not advance to the second round even in his years on Ammann skis in the German venues of Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He took 34th place in both races and is currently in 36th place in the middle of the Tour.

Ammann is aiming for his eighth Olympic appearance. He shone under the five rings in 2002 in Salt Lake City and 2010 in Vancouver, where he dominated both individual races. He won 23 competitions in the World Cup, but the last one was already in 2014, and at the beginning of 2018 he won the podium for the last time. So far this season he has scored only 18 points and his best finish was before Christmas in Engelberg, where he finished 20th.

Even 20-year-old Juri Kesseli will not continue with Ammann in Swiss colors in the Tour. Gregor Deschwanden and Sandra Hauswirth will be joined by Ammann’s other competitors in the fight for the Olympics Felix Trunz and Killian Peier.
