The search for a coach at Chelsea FC is nearing completion. While Liam Rosenior has already announced his move to the Blues, Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner is no longer an issue at Chelsea.
A decision is looming in the coaching bench at Chelsea FC. Liam Rosenior says he will be the Premier League club’s new team manager. This also makes it clear: Oliver Glasner, current coach of Crystal Palace, no longer plays a role at the Blues.
With the impending signing of Rosenior, Oliver Glasner is out of the running, at least for Chelsea. The Austrian had recently been repeatedly mentioned as a possible candidate. However, according to rumors, Glasner is said to be a hot contender for the coaching position at Manchester United from summer onwards.
Rosenior confirms agreement
“I haven’t signed yet, but we have a verbal agreement,” Rosenior said in a press conference at his current club Racing Strasbourg on Tuesday morning. He announced that the change would “probably take place in the next few hours”. An official confirmation from Chelsea FC was initially still pending. Rosenior succeeds Enzo Maresca, who was released at New Year’s Day.

Farewell to Strasbourg
Rosenior explained that he had come to Strasbourg again “because this club is close to my heart and I thought it was right to answer the questions in person here today before I move on to the next stage of my career.” The 41-year-old was emotional and spoke of mixed feelings.
Part of the Boehly network
The change of coach remains within the same investor construct. Both Chelsea and Racing Strasbourg belong to US entrepreneur Todd Boehly’s BlueCo Group. Rosenior’s predecessor Maresca had won the Club World Cup with Chelsea in the summer, but was still fired.
