Palencia has its next ‘hawk eye’. The archer from Carrión de los Condes Noa Cascajo Andrés signed one of the most outstanding results in regional archery this weekend by proclaiming herself champion of Castilla y León in both the youth and absolute categories. The competition was held in Mojados (Valladolid) and brought together more than 200 athletes from the entire community.
Cascajo, who competes with Arco Club Valladolid, won gold in the under-18 recurve event and, in the same category, in the senior female category, she also won against Jara María Bartolomé (Club Arqueros Zamora) and Sandra Bastián Serrano (teammate at Arco Club Valladolid). In addition, he has achieved the minimum score required to qualify for the absolute Spanish Championship, which consolidates an upward trajectory of this young promise from Palencia in the modality.
His club, Arco Club Valladolid, was one of the great protagonists of the championship, with nearly 50 archers traveling and a final balance of 25 medals: eight gold, nine silver and eight bronze. Within that block, several lower category shooters achieved outstanding results in absolute events.
Among them, Alfonso Veganzones, also a cadet, was proclaimed champion of Castilla y León in his category and won the silver medal in senior men.
From Carrión de los Condes, the City Council publicly conveyed its congratulations to Noa Cascajo for a result that consolidates an upward trajectory in recent years. “Noa not only continues to demonstrate that he is unbeatable in the lower categories, but he has made the definitive leap to total success,” they commented.
The Palencia goalkeeper’s next goal will be the Spanish Championship, which will be held from February 13 to 15 at the Valladolid Trade Fair.
