Niners Chemnitz vs Ulm: Key Player Injury & Playoff Outlook

Chemnitz – Die Niners Chemnitz remain haunted by bad luck with injuries! Since the start of the season, coach Rodrigo Pastore (53) has had to improvise week after week because players are missing injured or ill.

Even before the important domestic EuroCup duel on Wednesday evening in Ulm, the Argentine will probably have to do without a top performer. The American John Newman (35) left the bitter 86:89 defeat in Frankfurt/Main at the start of the second half with a thigh injury.

Since the Niners’ next difficult duel in the BBL is on Sunday against leaders Bayern Munich, Pastore will not take any risks with Newman. Team captain Kaza Kajami-Keane (31) should be there again. He was out last weekend with a gastrointestinal infection.

Kajami-Keane has good memories of the first leg against Ulm. The Canadian impressed with nine assists and Kevin Yebo (29, in the end with 25 points) repeatedly put himself in the spotlight. The Pastore team won 89:78.

While the weakened Niners recently suffered two defeats in the BBL, they have been successful in the EuroCup since the beginning of December. If Yebo & Co. win in the evening, it would be their fifth win in a row and a big step towards the play-offs.
