Nguyen Thi Oanh Plays Badminton with Tien Minh’s Wife

Fans were delighted on the day Nguyen Thi Oanh and Vu Thi Trang appeared.

At the 33rd Southeast Asian Games held in Thailand, Nguyen Thi Oanh confirmed her status as one of the most brilliant Vietnamese athletes. Nicknamed “Little Snail”, she won three gold medals in the 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m steeplechase, thus signing a historic hat-trick. With this performance, Oanh brought his total of individual gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games to a record 15, a rare feat in the history of Vietnamese athletics.

Thanks to his unwavering fighting spirit, unwavering determination and ability to push his limits, Oanh once again won valuable medals, contributing significantly to the success of the Vietnamese sports delegation. The image of Nguyen Thi Oanh, competing with remarkable intensity and constantly triumphing over grueling events, has become a symbol of perseverance and silent sacrifice specific to high-level sport.

Furthermore, Vu Thi Trang, experienced badminton player and partner of former Vietnamese number one Nguyen Tien Minh, also distinguished herself at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games with her competitive spirit and professionalism. Vu Thi Trang and Bui Bich Phuong won the bronze medal in women’s doubles, the only medal for Vietnamese badminton at these Games, marking a marked improvement from the 2023 Games (where the team did not win any titles).

At a time when Vietnamese badminton needs a generational transition, Vu Thi Trang’s perseverance and experience are considered an essential pillar, both professionally and mentally, for young players.

Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Mr. Than Ngoc Hien said: “Admiring the unwavering will and resilience of the two athletes, the organizing committee came up with the idea of inviting Nguyen Thi Oanh and Vu Thi Trang to Ho Chi Minh City to meet their fans. It is also a unique opportunity for businesses in Bac Ninh, in the South, to meet and encourage their compatriots. »

During the show, the two athletes candidly shared their journey to the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, the intense pressure of high-level competition, the years of preparation and the times they almost gave up due to injuries, overwork or physical limitations. These stories, both simple and authentic, deeply touched the many supporters present at the stadium.

The Bac Ninh Business Association (South) notably presented Nguyen Thi Oanh and Vu Thi Trang with numerous symbolic awards and sent them words of encouragement, thus recognizing the tireless efforts of these local athletes. This support, beyond material, constituted a valuable source of spiritual motivation, strengthening their determination to continue contributing to national sport. Furthermore, Mr. Than Ngoc Hien and his daughter also donated 10 million dong to each of the athletes.

After sharing some interesting anecdotes, Vu Thi Trang immediately went to the badminton court to interact with her fans. For her part, Nguyen Thi Oanh joined her unexpectedly, racket in hand, for a doubles game with Vu Thi Trang.

After the matches, which concluded amid cheers from the crowd, Nguyen Thi Oanh said: “My main sport is athletics, so I spend most of my time training and competing. Previously, during my university years, I also studied and played badminton. So I’m very happy to have participated in a competition like this. It’s even more special since I had the chance to play alongside Trang, a person I admire very much. I hope this exchange will bring a lot of joy to everyone. »
