The Monday after the last game day of the regular season of the National Football League (NFL) also meant the end of several head coaches at their clubs this year. On Monday, Kevin Stefanski was fired by the Cleveland Browns after six years and two Coach of the Year awards. The 43-year-old led the club to the play-offs in 2020 and 2023. This year, Cleveland finished the regular season with just five wins and twelve defeats.
After just one season, Pete Carroll’s commitment to the Las Vegas Raiders came to an end. After three years, Jonathan Gannon had to resign as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals shortly afterwards. In the end, both teams only had three wins in 17 games.
The narrow miss of the play-offs already had consequences for those responsible for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Team owner Arthur Blank confirmed the separation of coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot immediately after the last game against the Saints. Even a 19:17 victory over the New Orleans Saints at the end couldn’t save the coach-manager team.
