The champion team and the leading team Oklahoma City “Thunder” did not protect a six-point advantage at home in the last quarter and experienced the second loss in a row – 101:103 against the third team of the Eastern Conference, the Toronto “Raptors”, who won the fourth success in a row. Immanuel Quickley (3p. 6/10) stood out for the winners with 23 points and 11 rebounds, home team leader Shay Gilges-Alexander had 24 points and only 11 shots from the game.
The vice-leader of the Western Conference San Antonio “Spurs” also lost at home. They overcame a 20-point deficit in the second half, going from 58:78 to 92:87, but in the end they lost to the New Orleans “Pelicans” 95:104. Both Zion Williamson and Sadiq Bey had 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the winners, home star Victor Vembanyama scored 16 points, 16 rebounds, four blocked shots and also 2/10 from long range, 2/6 from the penalty line.
The Los Angeles Clippers, who started the season 6-21, continue to win, but have continued with 15-3 and occupy tenth place in the Western Conference. Last night, the Clippers defeated the Brooklyn Nets 126-89 at home, which suffered their fifth loss in a row. Kawhi Leonard had 28 points, James Harden had 19 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five fouls. Eastern Conference leader Detroit “Pistons” also won at home, defeating Sacramento “Kings” 139-116. Cade Cunningham had 29 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and five fouls, Domantas Sabonis had 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Detroit (33-11, 75.0%) is no longer far behind Oklahoma City (37-10, 78.7%) in the race for the best team in the regular season.
The Golden State “Warriors” defeated the Minnesota “Timberwolves” 111-85 on the road – Stephen Curry was 3/10 from long range, but had 26 points, seven assists and four steals. The home team’s Anthony Edwards was the most productive – 32 points, 11 rebounds and eight fouls. Naz Reed had no points but 10 rebounds. Miami “Heat” also won away, defeating Phoenix “Suns” 111:102. Bem Adebayo had 22 points and seven rebounds.
Tonight’s games between the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets, as well as the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks, were postponed due to a severe winter storm and difficult travel conditions.
