A surveillance operation carried out in the municipality of Navojoa, Sonoraallowed the seizure of a high-power arsenal hidden in a vehicle with an international theft report, as part of the coordinated actions of the State Security Board.
Vehicle surveillance and location tour
The action was led by personnel from the Mexican Armywhich during a preventive tour detected a Mercedes-Benz brand SUV. After verifying its data, it was confirmed that the unit had a current theft report in the United States, so it was inspected.
Weapons and ammunition secured
When checking the interior of the vehicle, the military elements located an arsenal made up of 18 long weapons and three short weapons, as well as 10 magazines and 146 useful cartridges of different calibers.
Among the weapons seized were high-powered rifles, submachine guns, semi-automatic rifles and a shotgun, which represented a significant risk to the security of the region.
Delivery to federal authority
The vehicle and all the war material were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Officewhich will be in charge of carrying out the corresponding investigations. Army personnel served as first responders in the securing.
