It seems paradoxical: Lorenzo Musetti lost his seventh final in a row on Sunday in Hong Kong – and yet he is moving inexorably up the world rankings.

At the ATP 250 event in Hong Kong, a preparation tournament for the Australian Open, Alexander Bublik won the tournament. The Kazakh defeated the Italian Lorenzo Musetti 7:6 (7:2), 6:3 in the final.

Bublik will be in the top ten for the first time in his career on Monday. Musetti, on the other hand, improved to fifth place despite the final defeat. The Italian has never been so good in the world rankings. This despite the fact that he has not won a single trophy since his only two tournament wins in 2022.

Medvedev wins in Brisbane

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev is in top form shortly before the start of his favorite Grand Slam. The Russian tennis professional won the final of the ATP tournament in Brisbane against American Brandon Nakashima 6:2, 7:6 (7:1) and celebrated his 22nd title.

Medvedev has already reached the final three times at the Australian Open, which begins on January 18th. In his current form he can go far in Melbourne this year too.
