Gençlerbirliği Coach Metin Diyadin emphasized that the red-black team should return to their codes and give importance to infrastructure.
Metin Diyadin, who was appointed as the coach of the capital team for the third time, made a statement to the AA correspondent at Beştepe İlhan Cavcav Facilities.
Diyadin, who grew up in the red-black community, continued: “We never left… We only came for the purpose of duty.” He started by saying.
Pointing out that Gençlerbirliği has experienced a serious administrative problem in recent years, Diyadin said, “As a result of the unstable financial structure, it has become a club with constant management changes and general assemblies. As you know, in the last general assembly, people who have been within the Gençlerbirliği community for years have taken part. One of them is us, our own club. It has been approximately 37 years since I came to Gençlerbirliği.” he said.
Stating that they served in a difficult period under the chairmanship of Niyazi Akdaş and managed to stay in the league, Diyadin said, “We do not have the chance to escape any task here. I think it is an important process, especially for the forward-looking structuring of the club. Mr. Arda (Çakmak) also took on a serious burden. A burden that no one could easily undertake if it were not for the feeling of Gençlerbirliği. In this process, we will try to make the club balanced in sports and financial terms. Of course, the place we will focus more on is the sports side.” he said.
When reminded that they ended the claret-blue team’s 11-game unbeaten streak by beating Trabzonspor 4-3 in the last week of the first half, Diyadin said:
“You may not be able to predict the score of the match, but we had a plan. Of course, Trabzonspor is an important team. But a very accurate planning was reflected on the field. The players were both highly motivated and stuck to the plan. It was also an enjoyable match with goals scored. It was one of the best matches in recent years. It was already a difficult match. When I came to the 1st League about 4 years ago, we had 12-14 youth players. We played with them for a year. Staying in the league with a low budget that year was actually an important thing. However, all of these youth children were sent the next year. Now think about it like this. The child coming from the youth team is 13-14 years old. It starts with a 5-6 year training process and you complete the process of getting to the A team in 3 months. It doesn’t always come like this, it takes time for the player to develop. I can say that Gençlerbirliği seriously destroyed that opportunity after I left. At least 10 players from the youth team left. Gençlerbirliği has to win this again. As someone who has experienced those processes, I think I am one of those who know this best. One of my biggest goals is to produce as many young players as we can. “Of course, all of this happens through process. The processes of the coaches are not clear, but I will seriously try to recruit young players during my time.”

I have experienced examples of this here for years. These can be achieved with correct, long-term planning. They are still there in the infrastructure, when the time comes, they will play again. It is necessary to include them in the structure without ignoring them. This cannot be done by constantly turning to the outside.
