MONCLOVA, COAH.- In an effort to strengthen the social fabric and offer quality spaces for citizens, the mayor Carlos Villarreal formally announced the reopening of the Nora Leticia Rocha Sports Unit. This action is the result of coordinated work with the governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez, and represents an initial investment of more than 40 million pesos executed during 2025.

The comprehensive rehabilitation, which is part of the “Prendamos Monclova” Investment Plan, transformed several critical areas of the complex. Among the most notable improvements are the modernization of the tartan court, the pool and the roof, in addition to the dignification of the restrooms and administrative offices. Likewise, the sports offering was expanded with the construction of a new archery field.

During the event, Villarreal emphasized that these actions seek to turn sport into a tool for prevention and healthy coexistence. “This work is an example of what is achieved when working as a team,” said the mayor, emphasizing that the project does not stop here.
The new tartan court and the archery area are part of the comprehensive modernization for the benefit of Monclova athletes.
For the years 2026 and 2027, the municipal administration contemplates new stages of rehabilitation that will include the Sports City and the Milo Martínez Auditorium. With these future interventions, it is estimated that the total investment in sports infrastructure will amount to more than 100 million pesos, thus consolidating the development of Monclova.
