MOL Cup Final: New Date Announced

The governing body of professional competitions said on Wednesday that, at the request of the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR), it postponed the entire 27th round of the first league so that the national team would have the best possible conditions for the March playoff for the World Cup.

The matches of the 27th round were to be played on the weekend of March 21 and 22. It will now only take place on Saturday, April 25, i.e. a week after the originally final 30th round of the regular season was played. The superstructure was supposed to start on the last weekend of April, the start of which will be shifted by a week to May 2 and 3. The third round of the superstructure will be inserted, it will take place on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May. According to the original schedule, all extension rounds were to be held on the weekend.

The MOL Cup final will return to a neutral stadium this year. The FAČR executive committee already selected the Malšovica Arena in Hradec Králové as the organizer last year. In recent years, the trophy has been played at the stadium of the finalist with a lower coefficient. The final match was last played on a neutral ground in 2019.

At the same time, the schedule of the quarter-final matches was published. On Tuesday, March 3, starting at 17:00, the duel between Jablonec and Slavia kicks off, and from 20:00, Mladá Boleslav will challenge Sparta, which has advanced to the final four times in a row. On Wednesday, from 17:00, Hradec Králové will play against Ostrava, and a day later at the same time, Karviná will finish their quarter-final battle with Pilsen.
