Reinaldo Oliveros | @ReiOliveros

This Thursday the cases that will go to arbitration in the Major Leagues for the 2026 season were announced with 18 players on the list.

The name that stands out the most is Tarik Skubal, the two-time Cy Young of the American League, with a difference of $13 million dollars between what the player asks for and what Detroit agrees to give in its last year of control.

Skubal asked for $32 million for this season. The record amount for a player in a year of arbitration is $31 million that Juan Soto received in the 2024 season with the New York Yankees.

Skubal will be a free agent for the 2027 season, considered one of the best pitchers in all of Major League Baseball.

Other names also stand out such as William Contreras, the Mexican Isaac Paredes, the first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, among others.
