FC Bayern is apparently faced with the possibility of selling Minjae Kim in the current transfer period. An England club beckons.

Munich – There is still a big question mark behind Minjae Kim’s future. Vincent Kompany is the central defender of the FC Bayern just a noble joker and can’t get past Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano. The South Korean has therefore been considered a candidate for departure for some time. It hasn’t been really concrete yet, but that has now apparently changed.

Like from the Bild-Bayern Insider podcast shows that Chelsea FC is intensifying its efforts to find Kim and has already expressed its interest. There is already contact with the player side. It is well known that the Londoners see a need in the defensive center. It was recently reported that Liam Rosenior, who took over as coach from Enzo Maresca at the beginning of the year, was in favor of a Kim transfer.

Premier League club tempts: Minjae Kim’s transfer becomes more concrete

Another candidate is Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennes, although Manchester City has also entered the race for the Frenchman. Chelsea have now decided on Kim, but it is also uncertain whether the Blues’ efforts will ultimately be successful with the 29-year-old. According to the report, Bayern fundamentally do not want to weaken their squad in the winter.

If Kim approaches the Bayern management with a request for a change, “no obstacles will be put in his way,” says Bild-Reporter Christian Falk: “If he says he’s staying, then you don’t have the problem.” Conversely, this means: Kim has not yet asked to leave the club this winter. It remains to be seen whether this will change by the end of the transfer period on February 2nd.

By summer at the latest there should be rumors of a change about Kim again. Although his contract runs until 2028, he is clearly too expensive as a reservist. In 2023, the German record champions paid a whopping 50 million euros for Kim, who was voted the best defender in Serie A at the time. He was actually planned to be the new head of defense at the time, but he couldn’t really live up to the expectations placed on him. (must)
