Cross-country skier Linnea Mobärg is selected as the fourth skier in the team, together with her brothers David and Erik and Sandra Näslund, who are already selected. Linnea has so far this season had two ninth places at the World Cup.
– Fun for Linnea to get her place at the Olympics, together with her brothers! It is also good for the team to have more than one skier selected in the skicross discipline, it gives us the opportunity to train in a different way. That we get one more skater who can match Sandra Näslund in training before the Olympics benefits them both, says Eric Iljans, head coach of the ski cross national team.
– Linnea has shown a high level for a long time and deserved her Olympic place, says Fredrik Joulamo.
The competitions in ski cross are run in Livigno, the men on February 20 and the women on February 21.
Cornelia Öhlund came back after a broken thumb last season and won JVM gold in slalom in March. She finished 2025 by finishing seventh in the World Cup competition in Semmering during the intervening days. Öhlund is taken out in the slalom. Estelle Alphand has been seventh in the World Cup this winter, the former gold medalist from the 2012 Youth Olympics is now making her second Olympic Games. She finished 16th in PyeongChang 2018. Alphand is selected to race giant slalom.
Charlie Laband, head coach of the alpine women’s national team, says this about the selected skiers:
– Cornelia has made several strong results in a row and is starting to become stable at this level. It has given her self-confidence and a shape curve that goes up like a rocket. Now that she is more sure of her starting place in the top-15, she can use it for stability and calmness in her riding, she is getting stronger with each race. Estelle has shown that she can maintain both high speed and a high level of skating. Her highest level where she performs at her peak can go a long way in an Olympics.
– Cornelia is a great talent who has shown the capacity to be among the top ten in slalom. Estelle has been top-seven in giant slalom this winter. We have a strong women’s team in Italy with Sara Hector and Anna Swenn Larsson selected earlier, says Fredrik Joulamo, SOK’s sports director.
The women’s giant slalom runs on February 15 and the slalom runs on February 18 in Cortina.
