Andrew caught the plane to Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday and no longer trained with Gil Vicente. The goalkeeper is expected by Flamengo officials to finalize the last details before his transfer to the current Brazilian and South American champions is made official.
As BALL already advanced, the departure of Andrew (who was six months away from ending his contract with Gil) to Brazil should yield 1.5 million euros to the Gil players and leaves César Peixoto with few options for the place that is now vacant in goal.
Dani Figueira and André Picornell are the only goalkeepers on the squad… for now, as the team is studying different targets to attack in the current market window.
Picornell is still awaiting his official debut for Gil’s main team, having played 12 games for the under-23 team this season. Dani Figueira has only played two games this season, one in the Portuguese Cup and another in the League, in which he had to replace Andrew, who was sent off in the match against Estrela da Amadora on the 8th round of the League. The Brazilian served his suspension in the Cup game in which Dani was a starter.
