The transfer of Lion Lauberbach is now official. The German striker joins Venice, in Serie B.
In recent weeks, interest in Lion Lauberbach has been growing. It must be said that even if he is still sometimes quite uneven on the ground, the Malinois attacker is in constant progress.
Last season, Besnik Hasi’s shouting seemed to have gotten the better of his self-confidence. Fred Vanderbiest’s smoother approach suits him better. From a reserve, Lauberbach rose to the team’s top scorer.
From the Pro League to Serie B…before Serie A?
Venice insisted more and more and ended up making the Mechelen leadership give in. The two clubs formalized this evening the departure of the native of Erfurt to La Sérénissime until June 2029, with an additional season as an option.

Second in Serie B, Venice is aiming for a return to the Italian elite. Lion Lauberbach could therefore have reached a nice milestone. On the other hand, for Mechelen, losing its top scorer while the team is struggling offensively (two goals scored in the last four matches) does not bode well in the fight for the top 6.
