Morelia, Michoacan (MiMorelia.com).- Mexican archers Maya Becerra y Mariana Bernal were nominated for the award “Athlete of the Year 2025” awarded by the International Archery Federation (World Archery)after a season full of successes in national and international competitions.
Both specialists in compound bow They positioned themselves among the best in the world thanks to their perseverance, individual medals and outstanding team performances.
Maya Becerra had an outstanding year by conquering gold at the Chengdu 2025 World Games and in the World Archery Championshipin addition to achieving podiums in team and mixed events.
For her part, Mariana Bernal surprised by winning the Meringue Cup and, especially, when crowned champion in the World Cup Final 2025where he won the duel for gold precisely against Becerra.
In addition to individual nominations, Karen Montellanocoach of both goalkeepers, was nominated in the category Coach of the Yearwhile the women’s compound bow team —made up of Becerra, Bernal and Adriana Castillo— compete for the award as Best Team.
