Maxence Broville: 7-Year Tennis Ban for Match-Fixing

On the evening of this Saturday, January 17, Maxence Broville was crowned Mister France 2026. However, this is not the first time that this 26-year-old young man has found himself in the spotlight. Because before pursuing a career in modeling, this native of Martinique was… a professional tennis player.

Practicing this sport since a young age, he managed to stand out to the point of joining the professional circuit. At the peak of his career, he reached 708th world rank, in June 2023. A career came to a complete halt at the same time, when the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) provisionally suspended him due to suspicion of a “major infraction”.

A sanction confirmed in February 2024 with a sentence without appeal: seven years of suspension and a fine of 5,000 dollars for refusal to cooperate in an investigation carried out by the ITIA.

Accusations of match fixing

“Maxence Broville, who reached world number 708 in singles in 2023, denied all accusations of match-fixing in 2017 and 2018. A hearing was held on January 5, 2024 before Charles Hollander, independent anti-corruption hearing officer,” the ITIA statement at the time said.

“The latter found Maxence Broville guilty of violations of articles F.2.b and F.2.d of the Code of Conduct for Tennis Players (TACP), relating to his refusal to cooperate with the ITIA investigation, in particular by refusing to submit his personal devices for examination after having received a written request from the investigators,” continues the ITIA.

Maxence Broville’s suspension will end on June 19, 2030. He will be 31 years old. “During the period of ineligibility, the player is prohibited from playing, training or attending any tennis event organized by members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, French Tennis Federation, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association,” the statement said.

On Maxence Brovillé’s Instagram account, numerous photos testifying to his tennis career remain, including one with Roger Federer.
