This first match of the calendar year was also the first minutes for Teddy Teuma, the new recruit of Liégeois: “I came to bring my own personal touch, to add something extra to the team. I tried to do as much as possible with my playing time (editor’s note Teuma came on at the hour mark) Today I did not manage to reverse the trend but there are quite a few matches left to make these play-offs.”
To secure the top 6, Teddy Teuma, who gave his jersey to a supporter after the match, is counting more than ever on the Liège fans: “When I say we’ll need everyone, I’m also talking about the supporters. It’s important to keep them involved, to show that we believe in them and they have to believe in us, until the end. We will do everything to achieve our goal.”
Standard, which is 7th with 27 points, welcomes Gantoise next weekend, 6th with 29 points. A success for Liégeois would bring them back into the top 6.
