During the National Paralympic Games, Maoming City selected 34 athletes to be selected into the Guangdong delegation to compete in 12 events including cycling, wheelchair basketball, triathlon, blind football, wheelchair fencing, curling, tennis, sitting volleyball, boccia, archery, track and field, and weightlifting. In the Summer Paralympic Deaflympics competition, Maoming athletes challenged themselves with their tenacity and fought hard. They won 7 golds, 16 silvers and 6 bronzes in individual events such as cycling, triathlon, wheelchair fencing, track and field, archery, and weightlifting, 3 golds in the cycling team and relay, and 4 team events in wheelchair basketball (men), wheelchair basketball (women), blind football (men), and blind football (women). Five people won gold medals and two people won silver medals.
Among them, Ruan Jianping performed particularly well in the cycling event, winning 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes; Luo Qiuheng won 1 gold and 1 silver in the triathlon; Liu Jiahui won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in the wheelchair fencing event, demonstrating the excellent strength and high-spirited spirit of Maoming disabled athletes.
