The Persis Solo football match against Persita Tangerang at the Manahan Stadium in Solo was marred by chaos. A number of unscrupulous supporters who were causing chaos and carrying flares were detained by officers.
Reported detikJatengSunday (4/1/2026), the match was disrupted in the 80th minute when spectators set off flares in the stadium. The police then moved quickly to secure a number of people to prevent the chaos from spreading.
“In securing the Persis Solo match against Persita Tangerang, we arrested 23 Persis Solo supporters who were caught drinking alcohol and carrying firecrackers and flares which could potentially endanger the safety of other spectators,” said Solo Police Chief Commissioner Catur Cahyono Wibowo.

Apart from securing unscrupulous supporters, the police also seized a number of objects that were prohibited from being brought into the stadium. The items confiscated by officers were 72 red flares, 6 pieces of smoke, 5 smoke pipes and 6 firecrackers.
“Furthermore, we took the unscrupulous supporters and their evidence to the Surakarta Police Headquarters for further data collection and handling in accordance with applicable procedures,” he said.
The action of lighting the flares caused the match to be stopped for 3 minutes, because the field was covered in thick smoke. However, the match continued again and ended in a positive manner.
