Former England footballer Gary Neville described Manchester United’s performance against struggling Wolverhampton as “the worst of the worst”. On Tuesday, his former team drew 1:1 with the team from the bottom of the Premier League table.
United could jump to fourth in the English top flight table, a position that guarantees participation in the Champions League. However, the visitors ended the streak of eleven losses and got the third point of the season.
The problem of shooting at the goal
According to Neville, the home team’s performance was worse than in the August loss against the fourth division team in the league cup. On Tuesday, they almost came out empty-handed, but goalkeeper Senne Lammens stopped them.
“It was the worst of the worst. They weren’t just booed at the end, the fans stayed longer, let them keep booing,” the former United captain was quoted as saying by AFP.

The “Red Devils” won 1-0 against Newcastle on Friday despite numerous injuries, including captain Bruno Fernandes, defender Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt.
Another trio of players were absent due to the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. However, against Wolves, the team had trouble getting a shot on goal.
Bizarre rotations
The 3-4-3 system, which coach Ruben Amorim returned to when he played with four defenders against Newcastle, came under fire again.
“It’s not right. I’ve been watching them closely enough for the last 5-6 weeks to know what looks right and what doesn’t,” Neville continued.
At halftime, Amorim withdrew Joshua Zirkzee and sent 18-year-old Jack Fletcher on the field, for whom it was only the third duel in his career. The helmsman later said it was a tactical change.
“They made it worse. Every substitution was bizarre. If Zirkzee wasn’t injured and it was a tactical decision, it was really poor,” added Neville.
