From one emotion to another. From tears of sadness to tears of joy. In the space of just over 24 hours, Malian football international Dorgeles Nene went through a range of emotions.
After the elimination in the quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations, at the end of the day Friday, against Senegal (0-1), the young 23-year-old winger did not have time to dwell on the defeat and take the time to digest.
In the wake of the elimination, he took the plane for a flight of around 3,000 kilometers towards Turkey where his club Fenerbahçe played, on Saturday afternoon, the final of the National Super Cup against rival Galatasaray.
Substitute at the kick-off of a match which started at 4:45 p.m., approximately 24 hours sharp after the start of the CAN quarter with Mali, Dorgeles Nene came on in the 69th minute and contributed to his team’s victory (2-0). Despite the accumulated fatigue, winning this title certainly allowed him to alleviate a little the disappointment of elimination with his selection.
Note that this final was also the first match for French international Mattéo Guendouzi in his new Fener colors. A perfectly successful first since he actively participated in his team’s success by scoring the first goal of the match with a superb strike. Ideal for conquering the hearts of Turkish supporters…
“Thank you to the fans for the love and support from day one,” the Frenchman wrote in English on his Instagram account. I already feel that I have arrived in a special club, a special family. Winning a final against our biggest rival, wearing these colors, scoring and fighting together after just two days… It means a lot to me. I’m proud to start this adventure with you like this. This is just the beginning. The best is still ahead. »
Guendouzi also went through all the emotions in a few days since he played his last match with Lazio on Wednesday evening and left the stadium with tears in his eyes.
