Mainz 05 Stadium Fire Alarm: Bundesliga Game Halt

Shocking moment in the Bundesliga: After FSV Mainz 05’s 3-1 win against VfL Wolfsburg, the stadium was evacuated due to a fire alarm.

Around an hour and a half after the final whistle, everyone still in the MEWA Arena was asked via loudspeaker announcement to leave the stadium immediately due to a special incident. This also included the players, referees, journalists and, above all, spectators in the VIP area.

Smoke development in the catering area of the Mainz Arena

A club spokesman said the fire alarm was triggered by excessive smoke in a catering area. There was no fire. After about a quarter of an hour, the arena was reopened to referees, journalists and VIP guests, among others.
