we are updating the report…
Englishman Luke Littler confirms the role of the favorite and will play in the final for the Sid Waddell trophy even in his third participation in the WC in darts.
The Warrington native, who will soon celebrate his 19th birthday, outclassed fellow countryman Ryan Searle in the semi-finals, 6-1 in sets.
His final opponent will be Dutchman Gian van Veen, who defeated his childhood idol Gary Anderson from Scotland 6:3 in the second semi-final.
Searle performed brilliantly and, like Littler, lost only two sets en route to the semi-finals. He entered the match against the talented teenager well and won the first set for his side.
One of the key moments was the end of the third set. Searle was able to break the set for his side at 2-2 with 69 points left on the target.
However, he hit a seven with the first dart, so he prepared at least a throw to the center with the second dart – he missed. Littler punished him and from then on he was unstoppable.
He won the fourth, fifth and sixth sets 3:0 and won a total of 11 legs in a row.
He lost this series only at the beginning of the seventh set, in which he attacked to close at nine darts. However, after seven perfect darts, he missed triple 20 and a few seconds later Searle punished him by closing 170 points.
Littler ended the game with an average of over 105 points, ten game-highs and almost 60 percent double-double success.
Before him, only Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson advanced to the WC finals three times in a row, who challenged Gian van Veen’s Dutch team in the second semi-final.
Both performed a thrilling show, which is evidenced by averages of just under 103 points, closes of 170 points on both sides, or a total of 25,180s.
As many as six of the nine sets were decided only in the fifth leg, and in the end the Dutchman enjoyed a 6:3 win. In the final part of the match, he was better than his opponent who was 32 years older, and the pressure from the spectators who cheered for Anderson stopped.
