The Carioca Championship is knocking on the door, but reinforcements keep arriving at the Boavista. With vast experience in European football, the striker Luis Henriqueaged 27, is the fourteenth signing for the 2026 season. The athlete will defend the colors of Verdão de Saquarema until the end of the state competition.
Already introduced to coach Gilson Kleina, Luís Henrique is integrated into the squad and has been participating in pre-season activities. Looking forward to his debut, the player was impressed with the club’s structure and spoke about the goals for Cariocão.
“I’m very happy for the opportunity. Boavista is one of the teams in Rio that is fighting in the heads, always arriving. I’m happy to be able to come back and play Carioca once again. Now, it’s time to finish this pre-season to arrive well on the 14th. Both due to the structure and the investment that the club has been making, we hope to have a good championship. The first step is to qualify for the playoffs and then go step by step to get as far as possible”, he said.
Formed not Botafogothe striker was one of the pillars in winning Serie B in 2015. After six years working in Europe – where he played in Portugal, Italy, Denmark and Finland – and with a spell in Japan, Luís Henrique returns to Brazil and reveals how international experience can help Boavista achieve the season’s goals.
“As we gain a little more baggage, with international experiences, it adds to our experience. For me, this is very important. I started playing football very early and left Brazil very early too. So, having this baggage from abroad helped me a lot in my career. Due to all the structure that the club has and the investments it is receiving, I see it as a good path for my return to Brazil”, he concluded.
Boavista begins its journey in the Rio Championship on January 14th, away from home, against Volta Redonda. Until then, the team continues to prepare with full-time activities and training games.
Meet Luís Henrique
Born in Itarana, Espírito Santo, Luís Henrique arrived in Rio de Janeiro football to play for Botafogo’s youth teams. He quickly stood out and caught everyone’s attention when he became top scorer in the 2015 Copa do Brasil U-17, scoring 14 goals in 11 matches. His professional debut took place in the same year and he played his first game as a professional at the age of 17, scoring two goals and being one of the pillars in winning the 2015 Series B.
After two years playing in Rio de Janeiro football, he arrived at Athletico-PR and soon after went to Europe to play for Feirense, in Portugal. Luís Henrique continued on the old continent, where he played for Vejle BK, from Denmark, and HIFK Helsinki, where he won the 2021 Finnish championship. In 2022 he went to Japan to defend Kataller Toyama and a season later he returned to Europe, this time to Italy. In the country of the boot he defended the colors of the traditional Livorno, in addition to Albenga, AC Magenta and Paternò Calcio.
A classic center forward and natural killer, Luís Henrique has good positioning inside the area and a great eye for goal, important characteristics for the game model that has been implemented by the technical committee.
