Tight schedule and record time
Kopecky collected two Belgian titles and improved a national record. The sequence of parts resulted in a particularly tight schedule. The limited breaks made it difficult to optimally recover between efforts. “The program was not ideal,” she said at Sporza.
The pursuit, not her main discipline, still gave her a record time. She had long wanted to complete that track and now found the opportunity to make it happen. The successive efforts also provided a strong training incentive. “You can look at it positively: it is a solid, thorough training.”
Reunion with Shari Bossuyt
In the team race, Kopecky was able to work together again with Shari Bossuyt, who returned after a suspension. The renewed collaboration meant a lot to her. The duo uses these competitions to rebuild automatisms towards the international calendar. “That was very gratifying.”
The coming months will be all about preparation for the world championship. Kopecky emphasizes that the team race must be brought back up to standard and that coordination will be further tightened. “We have to be at 200% in October, at the World Cup in Shanghai.”
The road season is also coming. Kopecky confirmed that her program has already been partially determined and that the winter preparation gives confidence for the coming period. “I start in the Omloop Nieuwsblad and then ride the White Roads.” She concludes with a positive evaluation of her training period. “I had a really good winter,” she has to report as big news.
