For the 20th day of the Premier League, Liverpool dropped two points on the Fulham pitch this Sunday.
Liverpool let the victory slip away in added time with two goals on Sunday at Fulham (2-2), a second draw in a row for the outgoing champion, fourth in the Premier League after 20 days.
The Reds thought they had snatched victory in London thanks to Cody Gakpo (90th+4, 1-2), but incoming Harrison Reed responded to the Dutch striker with a magnificent long shot (90th+7, 2-2). These two points dropped in the final seconds keep Arne Slot’s team in fourth place, with 34 points, but the current third Manchester City (3rd, 41 pts) could widen the gap in the event of a victory on Sunday evening against Chelsea (6th, 30 pts).

The leader Arsenal (48 pts) and its current runner-up Aston Villa (42 pts) are far from Liverpool, already caught on Thursday by Leeds (0-0) at home. The players in the red jersey, deprived of their injured center forwards Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitiké, confiscated the ball in the first period but did nothing with it.
And in a quick transition, it was Fulham who opened the scoring with their only shot on target thanks to Harry Wilson, a player trained at Liverpool, who went almost offside (17th, 1-0). The visitors were more threatening after half-time, with the reward of a new goal from Florian Wirtz (57th, 1-1), his second in three matches.
Slot will cross his fingers to recover Ekitiké, his N.1 offensive weapon, by Thursday and the trip to Arsenal.
