LONDON – FC Burnley players with Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka drew 2:2 with Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s match of the 23rd round of the English Premier League.

The 37-year-old Slovak kept his team afloat and made nine successful saves during the match. The “Roosters” saved at least a point in the 90th minute, when captain Cristiano Romero managed to equalize.

Dutch defender Micky van de Ven gave the guests the lead in the 38th minute after a corner kick, and Axel Tuanzebe equalized at 1:1 at the end of the first period. In the 76th minute, substitute Lyle Foster made his mark for the home team, and it seemed that the penultimate team in the table could see their first triumph after a 13-game winless streak.

However, the Londoners took advantage of the pressure at least for an equalizing goal, and the defender – Romero – scored in the second case as well. Spurs did not score fully in the fifth league match in a row. Burnley has 15 points and after the third draw in a row, they lost to the eighteenth West Ham United by a difference of five points.

Liverpool lost a point at the very end

After four league draws, the FC Liverpool players recorded their seventh loss in the current year of the English Premier League. “The Reds” were not enough against AFC Bournemouth in Saturday’s meeting of the 23rd round and lost to AFC Bournemouth 2:3. The decisive goal of the match was scored by Moroccan midfielder Amine Adli in the fifth minute of extra time in the second half.

The struggling defending champion started the duel very badly. After goals from Evanilson and Alejandro Jimenez, they were losing 0:2 shortly after half an hour of the game. Coach Arne Slot’s men were able to erase the two-goal deficit when captain Virgil van Dijk scored before the break, and Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai made it 2:2 in the 80th minute.

Instead of a successful turn, however, the visitors failed to finish when, after a long drive throw-in, they failed to save the rebounded ball, which Adli pushed into the net in a scrum. Liverpool are in 4th place, seven points behind third-placed Aston Villa. After completing the round on Sunday, several teams can also get ahead of them. Bournemouth has moved up to 13th place in the inflated middle of the table and has the same number of points (30) as twelfth-placed Brighton.

Manchester with a must win

Mandatory three points were obtained by Manchester City players who defeated the weakest team of the competition Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 after goals from Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semeny in the first half. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team has secured 2nd place in the table, in which they have 46 points and lose four to leaders Arsenal. However, the Gunners have a game to spare, as do third-placed Aston Villa, who can catch up with the Citizens on points if they win over Newcastle United.

The Hammers with another win

West Ham United won over AFC Sunderland 3:1. The Hammers set up their triumph over the newcomers to the competition with three first-half strikes, as Crysencio Summerville, Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes scored from the penalty spot. For the visitors, Brian Brobbey only reduced the game after an hour. Sunderland is in a crowded midfield in 10th place with 33 points.

Fantastic turnaround by Fulham

Fulham completed the turnaround at home. The London club was losing from the 28th minute after a precise strike by Yasin Ayari, but after the change of sides, they reversed the unfavorable development. Substitute Samu Chukwueze scored first in the 72nd minute, and Harry Wilson decided in the second minute of overtime.
