The small town in Liptov can boast of great sporting success. Liptovský Hrádok has since the end of last year own municipal swimming pool, which quickly gained the attention of the public and professional athletes. Today, the new modern sports center attracts not only local residents but also stars of swimming and triathlon sports.

The swimming pool grew up in the sports zone between the city sports hall and the football stadium and represents an important milestone for the city. Large swimming pool with exceptional ecological technology

The object is dominant 25-meter stainless steel pool with six lanes, suitable not only for recreational swimming, but also for organizing youth swimming races. Visitors have access to modern facilities and comfortable spaces that meet current demands for hygiene, safety and comfort. In addition, the swimming pool is barrier-free – it is equipped with a special lift that enables safe entry into the water even for people with mobility impairments.

The ecological dimension of the operation is also interesting. Unlike most swimming pools in Slovakia, the facility in Liptovský Hrádek can clean the waste water from washing the filters so that it can be reused in the pool. It is only the second swimming pool in Slovakia with this technology, which significantly saves water and operating costs.

The total construction costs reached 3.4 million euros. The city received more than 920,000 euros from the Sports Support Fund, the amount of 1.2 million euros was paid from its own reserve fund, and the rest of the financing was secured through a loan. The grand opening took place on Wednesday, December 3, a the public could swim on Mikuláš for the first time on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Local citizens received a symbolic gift, which Slovak aquabels were among the first to try.

The swimming pool attracted star names

Shortly after the opening, it became clear that the swimming pool has the potential to appeal to top sportsmen as well. Less than two weeks have passed since the start of operations here the first official reservation of the swimming lane. Four successful Slovak representatives – Lýdia Žáčiková, Simona Jurigová, Peter Žáčik and Róbert Budaj – completed an intensive three-hour training session in Hrádek, during which they swam approximately 40 kilometers together.

At the turn of the years, other star visits were added. She visited the swimming pool Slovakian swimming legend Martina Moravcová, double Olympic medalist from Sydney 2000who came in the role of coach of her charges. She was also accompanied by her mother, Darina, who stood at the beginning of her exceptional career.

Shortly afterwards, he also appeared in the pools the most successful Slovak triathlete Richard Varga, four-time world champion in aquathlon and two-time Olympian. He visited Liptovský Hrádek as a coach with his team and promised that he would consider another return.

It confirms that even with the current water parameters, we are an attractive place for the sports elite.” wrote the castle swimming pool.

In an incredibly short time, the new city swimming pool has become a sports venue with the ambition to go beyond the borders of the region. For the residents of Liptovský Hrádek, it means new opportunities for active recreation, for athletes a quality training facility, and for the city another step towards becoming an attractive point on the sports map of Slovakia.
