Ligue 1 Burglaries: New Arrests in Player Home Investigation

They are young, rich and make no secret of their lives or their schedules. Football players are a dream target for burglars. In recent years, a series of thefts have hit the Strasbourg club, which plays in Ligue 1. Several players, and former players, have been victims of burglaries at their homes.

On January 25, 2025, taking advantage of a championship match, thieves slipped into Andrey Santos’ apartment to steal jewelry and luxury leather goods. The damage was estimated at €500,000.

Investigations made it possible to link this theft to other similar burglaries committed in 2024 at Kevin Gameiro and Benjamin Bourigeaud, player from Rennes. On September 26, 2025, a new burglary took place at Emmanuel Emegha’s house, also during a match, with damage this time estimated at €200,000.

Suspects aged 24 and 30

The use of the building’s video surveillance then made it possible to detect the presence of suspects. Two 28-year-old individuals were subsequently arrested in the Paris region, one in Essonne and the other in Paris. Part of the loot discovered in the Paris region.

According to information from Europe 1, we can confirm two new suspects, aged 24 and 30, were arrested this Tuesday in Seine-et-Marne and in Val-de-Marne, by investigators from the Banditry Repression Group of Bas-Rhin and Essonne.

These new arrests reveal an organized network.
