Floorball players ensure victory in a decisive game
The team “Lielvārde/Unihoc” secured an important victory in the fight for the playoffs for men of the floorball ELVI league. In the away match at the Đadažu sports center against their direct competition “FBK SĀC”, the giants won with the result 9:7. This victory allows “Lielvārde/Unihoc” to strengthen its position in the tournament table, maintaining realistic hopes of entering the playoffs.
The course of the game and the decisive moments
“Lielvārde/Unihoc” started the match very convincingly, gaining a 3-0 advantage before the middle of the first half. The goals were scored by Klāvs Kaspars, team captain Juris Sandis Jēgers and Valters Skudra. Although the hosts from Ādaži were able to play back one goal as a result of using the majority of the situation (1:3), Reinis Kalniņš restored a three-goal lead for the guests before the break (4:1).
In the second third, the advantage of the guests continued to grow, already reaching a handicap of five goals – 8:3. It seemed that the fate of the game was decided, however, in the last period, “FBK SĀC” showed character, scoring four goals and getting closer to the score 7:8. The tense end of the regular time culminated in a dramatic event – just three seconds before the end of the game, Juris Sandis Jēgers scored his fourth goal of the game, sending the ball into the empty home goal and ensuring “Lielvārde/Unihoc” a 9:7 victory.

The team captain became the key person in the “Lielvārde/Unihoc” team Juris Sandis Jägerswho scored 4 goals and was recognized as the best player in the ranks of the winners. His teammates Klaavs Kaspars and Oskars Tūtans added two points each. In the “FBK SĀC” team, Kevin Šmits was the top scorer with 4 (3+1) points, while Tomas Kristofers Birstiņš collected 3 (1+2) points. The ratio of shots in the game was tied – 30:30.
