Having passed through the training centers of AS Eupen and Sporting de Charleroi, Liégeois Amin Laoukili played his first minutes in the Eredivisie by entering the game during added time of the match between the Go Ahead Eagles and Fortuna Sittard.
Having played for AS Eupen and Sporting de Charleroi during his youth, Amin Laoukili quickly chose to leave Belgium to try his luck in the Netherlands. It was near Roda JC that he settled to complete his training.
Having passed successively through the U18 then U21 teams, the Liégeois then signed up with Fortuna Sittard in the summer of 2024, with the prospect of joining the first team in the medium term. To achieve this, he first had to prove himself to the club’s prospects.
Mission accomplished, since the attacking midfielder notably scored seven goals in the first thirteen meetings this season with the U21s. His performances earned him a first call-up to the first team bench in mid-December, during the Dutch Cup match against Almere City, a sign that his debut with the A core was getting closer.
Also included in the group for the reception of AZ Alkmaar during the last meeting of the calendar year, Amin Laoukili harbored the hope of soon playing his first minutes among professionals. It has now been done since this Sunday evening.
Former Rouches as teammates
The young Belgian actually entered the game during added time of the match between the Go Ahead Eagles and Fortuna Sittard (2-2), marked by a double from Carolo Mathis Suray for the Eagles. He came into play when the score was 2-1, at the same time as former Rouche Alen Halilovic, and watched from the pitch as his teammate Justin Hubner equalized in the final moments of the game, on an assist from the same Halilovic.
After leaving a positive impression during the friendly matches played with the professional core, Amin Laoukili was able to make his debut among adults. At just 20 years old, he should benefit from more opportunities to prove himself between now and the end of the season and join the large contingent of Belgian players who take to the Eredivisie pitches every week.
At Fortuna Sittard, we find in particular the young Moussa Gbemou, who has just signed his first professional contract there, as well as the defender Shawn Adewoye, trained at Genk but little known here. A core which also includes former Rouche Samuel Bastien, back after his stroke, who also took part in the game during this meeting.
