This is a bad habit that sticks to Olivier Létang’s skin. The president of Lille, beaten this Saturday by Rennes in his Pierre-Mauroy stadium, attacked the referee again. His remarks, made during half-time, were broadcast by Ligue 1 +.
“You know what you did,” Olivier Létang first said to Éric Wattellier, the referee of the match, repeating the sentence three times. Before continuing: “It’s a shame! It’s a scandal! I can’t believe it! You can’t even speak calmly! »
The Lille president was quite annoyed after the expulsion of his central defender Alexsandro at the very start of the game (13th). He fell after poor control and took Rennais Breel Embolo with him in his fall.
Last November, Olivier Létang was fined 10,000 euros by UEFA for his inappropriate behavior towards referees.
During Lille’s defeat against PAOK Salonika (3-4), he had already attacked the referee at half-time after a decision that he considered bad: “I have already written to Mr. Ceferin (the UEFA president), what happened this evening is incredible,” he said.
In September, he received a one-match suspension from the sidelines (plus two suspended matches) in Ligue 1 for criticism aimed at referees.
