FECOBA”/>

The second window of the FIBA World Cup Africa Qualifiers begins in February. However, the Leopards are threatening to boycott this phase, which will be played in Dakar, capital of Senegal.

According to the FIBA calendar, the Leopards will successively meet Madagascar, Ivory Coast and Senegal.

Match schedule:

  • February 26: DRC-Madagascar
  • February 27: DRC – Ivory Coast
  • March 1: DRC -Senegal.

However, the Leopards are threatening to boycott this window, explains the president of the federation, Paulin Kabongo:

“There are players who called me to tell me: ‘President, we are going to come for the World Cup qualifiers without being paid the bonus for the preparation that we did in November in Auxerre. By leaving our clubs, we are not paid. When we come to the selection, we do the training, we come back reduced and now we have to come to Dakar without assurance that all this will be paid on time.’ I told them that I would check with the guardianship. We will fight to ensure that this preparation bonus is paid to them.”

He believes that the Minister of Finance, “ who blocked this file will be able to unblock it so that these players come back ».

According to him, the players, who bring honor to the Republic, have the right to be remunerated at their fair value.

« If, from the start, we already have sounds like this, it risks disrupting us in what we intend to do before entering the competition », he fears, wishing that there would not be this kind of trouble.
