EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. With the golden exaltation, the Martial Arts Pavilion of Fame elevated Leidi Germán to the niche of immortality, a high-performance athlete who paraded her talent as a judoka on different national and international stages.
The judo family and martial arts community proudly celebrated Germán’s induction into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame at the XIV ceremonial ceremony held on November 30.
The recognition honored the outstanding career of the former athlete, as well as her discipline, leadership and valuable contribution to the development and promotion of judo, and she currently continues to give from other functions.
During the colorful exaltation ceremony, the years of dedication, constant effort and commitment to the fundamental values of martial arts, such as respect, perseverance and honor, were highlighted.
The exaltation to the Hall of Fame represented for judoka Germán not only personal recognition, but also an inspiration for new generations who lead a sporting life in the different branches of martial arts, especially for judokas.
As part of the significant event, Leidi German also had the honor of delivering the speech on behalf of the exalted, a privilege reserved for figures whose career and example have left a deep mark on the martial community.
His words highlighted the importance of comprehensive training, personal growth and the positive impact of martial arts on society.
This recognition consolidates the legacy of Leidi Germán as an exemplary figure within the field of martial arts and reaffirms her influence as an example, commitment and vocation for service.
Through the foundation that bears his name, Germán contributes to the incentive of student athletes, and each year he awards awards for academic and sports excellence.
Germán, who retired as an athlete in 2014, won a silver medal at the 2002 Central American Games in El Salvador, bronze in Cartagena 2006, Mayagüez 2010 and Veracruz 2014, as well as a bronze medal in the 2006 Pan American Championships, while competing in two World Championships.
In addition to Leidi Germán, Ekers E. Raposo, Félix Lebron, in Judo were also part of the class of 2025 inductees; Abraham Tabar in Ju-Jitsu; Miguel Abreu (Kung fu), and in Karate, Alberto Moreta Mancebo, Alcibiades Peña Escalante and Edwin Beltré.
Likewise, Juan Raúl Suazo Melenciano, in Kung Fu; Alejandro Serrallés, in Ju-Jitsu; José R. Del Rosario, in Kung Fu; José Manuel Silverio, Jorge Amauri Guerrero, in Tae Kwon Do, as well as Héctor Pilier from Rome, as a promoter in taekwondo.
