LeBron James: 23rd NBA Season Patch Revealed

Miami (USA), Jan 12 (EFE).- From this Monday until the end of the season, LeBron James will wear a patch on his jersey that will commemorate his 23rd season in the NBA, and which will later be inserted into collectible cards that will go on sale.

“LeBron James will wear a special edition Season 23 jersey patch starting tonight in Sacramento, the city where he began his legendary career in 2003,” the collectibles company Topps reported today in a statement.

“The patches will be removed from your jersey after each match and some will be placed on ultra-rare trading cards,” he added.

The patch is divided into four colors, which refer to James’ time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, his return to the Cavaliers and, finally, his departure to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The number 23 also appears on them, for the seasons the player has been active, and the silhouette of James can be seen with his arms raised, reminiscent of the ceremony he performs before each game when he throws magnesium into the air.

James, 41, will not be the only NBA player to wear one of these patches. Starting this season, each NBA rookie wears a patch with the word “NBA Debut” during his first game in the league, and last season’s MVP, Rookie of the Year and Best Defensive Player award winners also wear a commemorative patch.
