Latvian Photography at Doha’s “City Speaks” Exhibition

On January 9, 2026, the international photography exhibition “City Speaks” will be opened in Doha, Qatar, at the Qatar Photography Center gallery located in the prestigious Qatar Cultural Village, as part of the large-scale international event Manifestation.

68 photographers from different countries of the world participate in the exhibition, including three Latvian photographers – Inga Ivanova, Agnese Pastare and Ivars Salmanis, a total of 5 works. Participation in this international project confirms the professional quality of Latvian photography and its importance in the global cultural space.

Inga Ivanova is a photographer whose works have participated in Latvian and international photo contests and exhibitions for more than fifteen years, winning many awards and recognitions, as well as being published in several books and numerous catalogs. Inga has actively participated in exhibitions in Latvia and abroad, they cover Europe, Asia and other countries of the world. She has won several gold medals in various competitions, including the FIAP gold medal. Inga is a member of the Latgale Society of Photographers and the Association of Creative Photographers of Latvia. International Art Photographer titles: GPU Zeus, GPU CR1, V-IAAP, EPCA/b, SSS/Air.

Agnes Pastare is a photographer whose work has been featured in numerous catalogs, including books, and has been exhibited on every continent except Antarctica. She is the founder of the Ventspils photo club KAKTUSS and the EZIS.LV association, actively participates in photo plein airs and international competitions, where she gets prize-winning places and recognitions, as well as promotes the development of photo art in the Latvian photographer community. Member of Ventspils photo club KAKTUSS, EZIS.LV association, Latvian Photographers’ Union and Latvian Association of Creative Photographers. Ivars Salmanis is a Latvian and internationally known photographer who was awarded the status of “Creative personality of Latvia” in 2018 – this is a high assessment that confirms his importance in the Latvian art environment. He regularly participates in exhibitions – every year both in Latvia and abroad, including Europe, Asia, Africa, where his works are included in international expositions and published in books. At the same time, he actively competes in international competitions, where he has won a number of important awards. Thanks to his extensive knowledge, the photographer is regularly invited to join the jury in various competitions, including competitions organized by FIAP and PSA. The exhibition is organized by the Global Photographic Union (GPU), an international non-commercial photography association that has become one of the most recognizable and prestigious photography organizations in the world, bringing together photographers from hundreds of countries.
