For three weeks, the suspense has lasted no more than a few minutes on the Canal + antennas on Sunday evening in Top 14. This Sunday, Toulon chose to travel to La Rochelle with a largely reduced squad.
Baptiste Serin, Charles Ollivon, Melvyn Jaminet, David Ribbans and Gaël Dréan were, among others, all spared. And the 16 absent were replaced by young shoots from the training center, who never made the grade.
Three consecutive one-way Sunday evenings
For its 10 years of sold-outs, La Rochelle passed 10 tries, without even forcing. 42-0 after 42 minutes and 59-0 at the hour mark, the Rochelais could even have increased the score but seemed to hold back in the last 20 minutes.
Last week, these same Rochelais also skipped a trip to Toulouse, planned for Sunday evening. And left the Stadium with 60 points and a heavy defeat (60-14).
It’s been three consecutive weeks that the Sunday evening match has turned into a tough affair, since before, it was… Toulon who took a volley at Bordeaux (46-7). Enough to question the dense programming of the big players, sometimes forced to rest their best players. And ruin meetings, to the detriment of the show and their supporters.
