KV Mechelen has made a change within the sporting structure. The club ended its collaboration with promise coach Killian Overmeire after six months.
End of the collaboration
The club decided to terminate the contract with Overmeire after a short period as head coach of the promising team. This is reported by Gazet van Antwerpen. He took over the lead in fourth division in June, but the collaboration ended after six months. The decision follows a series of disappointing results.
Jong KVM ended the first half of the season in the lower regions of the rankings. The team collected eleven points out of 48, which increased the pressure on the sporting staff. The limited availability of some young players affected the stability within the squad.
Influence of flow and injuries
Several talented players made the switch to the first team, where they were given regular playing opportunities. As a result, the promising team had to make do without them for a longer period of time. In addition, there were also injuries, which further complicated the composition of the team.
According to the club, the presence of these players may have provided more balance. The circumstances made it difficult for Overmeire to create continuity within the team.
KV Mechelen is now focusing on appointing a new promising coach. The club expects that a successor can reverse the downward trend. The sporting management hopes that a new approach can improve Jong KVM’s performance again.
