Kirchbach Judo: Kids’ Medal Haul & Season Start

The Union Judo Club Kirchbach has started the season successfully. At the tournament in Slovenska Bistrica, the youngsters took home two gold medals. Six gold, one silver and two bronze medals had come out a week earlier at the cup tournament in Murska Sobota.

SLOVENIA/KIRCHBACH. In the 1st “Memorial Stanka Topolcnika Tournament” in Slovenska Bistrica, a total of 381 athletes from 34 clubs and four nations competed – including three talents from Kirchbach.

Martin Archan lived up to his role as favorite in the age and weight category U12, up to 35 kilograms. After making it to the final in a hurry, he was able to win the last fight and celebrate gold. Teammate Johannes Archan (up to 46 kilograms) was in no way inferior to him in the U14 competition, and his medal also shone in gold. Josua Grasser (U14, up to 42 kilograms) came in fifth.

At the 16th Beltinci Cup Tournament in Murska Sobota in Slovenia, 106 athletes from 20 clubs and three nations competed in the U8, U10, U12 and U14 age groups. Ten young hopefuls from the Union Judo Club Kirchbach won nine medals. They achieved second place in the medal rankings out of 20 clubs.

Gabriel and Martin Archan, Leopold Grillhofer, Fabian Trummer, Yaroslav Burzyak Klymovych and Mathias Scharler took gold, Ludwig Schmid took silver and Marvin Hülser and Anja Kurzmann took bronze.
