THE Kings were coming out of a correction received against the Clippers (131-90) and they had to show themselves in a better light during this reception from the Celtics. This Friday, Sacramento showed more desire since the teammates of Maxime Raynaud held off Boston for three quarters before giving in in the last act and conceding a 32-18 in twelve minutes to end up losing 106-120.
Faced with this third consecutive defeat, the Californians are trying to cheer themselves up as best they can and Doug Christie appreciated the more combative face displayed by his team.
“The level of competition was much better,” underlines the Kings tactician. “The Celtics take, on average, 13 offensive rebounds per game. They only took five tonight and we only lost nine balls. These are good things. However, we are not looking for moral victories, we want victories. »
Same story on the side of Keon Ellis : “You can notice the difference. If you watched the game against the Clippers and this one, you can say that we showed up tonight. »
Stoppage at the end of the match
Having desire does not guarantee victories and Sacramento was able to see that during this clash against Boston. In the last act, the Kings machine stalled like this 0/10 at 3-points while Doug Christie’s men had posted 44% success during the first three quarters.
“You have to make stops. They scored more than 30 points in the last quarter,” underlines Doug Christie who prefers to concentrate on defense rather than 0/10 from afar. “When I watch the match again, I’m going to look at what happened on that side of the pitch. We have to defend without making mistakes and we made mistakes on jumpshots and conceded ‘and ones’. We need to contain them better and prevent the ball from going past their shoulders. The opponents certainly won’t like it, but we have to play more physical. »
To hope to end their spiral of defeats, the Kings will challenge the Suns this Friday. A Phoenix team which is on a much better dynamic than Sacramento since the Arizona franchise has won four of its last five games despite a misstep against Cleveland to end the year 2025.
