Kervignac Badminton: Leroux Steps Down, Sabourin Takes Over

After thirteen years as president of the association Les Fous du loup de Kervignac (LFVK), a local badminton club, Vincent Leroux handed over to Benoît Sabourin, with the satisfaction of a duty accomplished.

Sporting and societal evolution

I had been president since 2013 and I felt it was the right time to pass the torchexplains Vincent Leroux, 48 years old, living in Kervignac for eighteen years and at the club since 2007. Since 2013, the club has evolved significantly, going from 33 members to 290 currently, with two full-time employees. The sporting results are also very good since we, among other things, won the Morbihan Cup in 2025. Team 1 moved up to Regional 1 and is now aiming for promotion to the Prenational. 80% of our teams have moved on, which is very satisfactory. We are on the podium for the best school in Morbihan two years in a row. The affiliation of the club, created in 1998, to the Federation, since 2013, has enabled this sporting but also societal evolution, with those over 60 and interventions in five schools: three in Kervignac, one in Merlevenez and one in Hennebont.

The increasingly significant administrative burden finally convinced him to withdraw from the presidency but to remain vice-president of the club, surrounded by an excellent team without whom nothing would have been possible .

Subsidies from the State, the town hall, private partners, contributions and tournaments make it possible to operate the club and, in particular, to pay the two employees.

Continuity, the key word

Already a member of the office, Benoît Sabourin, 40 years old, native of Auray, becomes president with the desire to continue Vincent’s work and to favor stability, helped by a very good team .

Returning to Brittany in 2022 after spending thirteen years in Paris and two in Nantes, the new president started badminton the same year.

Previously, I had played basketball, and a friend who plays badminton in Auray suggested that I come and watch him; I liked it straight away. It’s cool and quite intense. I have also been a referee for the club for two years underlines Benoît Sabourin.
