On January 5th, the “Keio Jr. Winter Cup 2025-26 2025 6th National U15 Basketball Championship” was held at Keio Arena TOKYO. A battle is underway to decide who is the best junior high school student in Japan.
The women’s division entered the second round. Kyoto Seika Gakuen Junior High School (Kyoto Prefecture), the No. 1 seed and aiming for their third consecutive victory in the tournament, appeared and faced CONFIANZA Tokyo U15 (Tokyo). Kyoto Seika Gakuen Junior High played fast-tempo basketball from the defense, centering on the inside of the 190cm Anibog Jennifer Chinaza, and took the lead in the first quarter. There were times when the score narrowed at the end of the second quarter, but Chinaza’s score and Matsuda Rizuki’s 3-point shot widened the lead, ending the first half at 40-35.
In the second half, Chinaza scored more points, and Anna Takano also added points, including sinking 3 points, extending the lead and passing the first match with a final score of 79-58. We advanced to the third round.
In terms of individual stats, Chinaza led the team with his high performance with 31 points and 19 rebounds. Ansa Itakura, who scored points everywhere, recorded 10 points and 7 rebounds. On the other hand, in the defeated Confit, Ayaba Watanabe sank 7 3-pointers and scored 24 points.
