Katzwang vs Ansbach: Season Restart Point

18 January 2026

On Saturday evening, January 17, 2026, there was reason to celebrate in the hall: The Katzwanger team separated from the guests TSV Ansbach III with a draw.

The team awaited the young Ansbachers with great respect and the best possible squad. Even more so are the women from Ansbach. But they were weakened with only one lady, so the ARSV got one of eight points on a silver platter with the women’s doubles gone.

The five men spent a while working on the optimal double combination. With success: Both doubles were strong with Reiner/Eddy and Marco/Holger, the point came in the 2nd HD, even if it was a bit close in overtime in the 2nd set.

Reiner turned up the heat again in the top singles, although he was a little weaker. He thrilled the audience with magic, continuing into a third movement. By then, his opponent had probably laced his shoes so that it fit and was able to defeat Reiner.

There was also enthusiasm for Marco in the second men’s singles, hardly less challenging than the first. The opponent was agile and agile, but he certainly made mistakes, and Marco was able to get them out of him very calmly and calmly, leading to a deserved victory. The hammer(l)!

Unfortunately, Susanne didn’t manage to do this in the individual, but against a well-trained, fast and fairly strong opponent she managed to raise her own performance to a good level. The tactics were right, here too there were weak points on the opponent’s side. The two (lost) sets of 19:21 and 18:21 proved that something is possible even against the best women in the group and that it is always worth fighting.

Jürgen played the third singles, but was inferior to his opponent. Nevertheless, it was an important contribution, because in the “old men’s team” playing with five men shortens the subsequent regeneration… (Whereas the following generation lost out, but this time it was more due to the absences in the squad.)

The team was a bit surprised when some of them counted the points: the mixed doubles could still result in a draw! With appropriate pressure, Sabine and Holger were allowed onto the center court. Maybe that helped them to keep their nerve and stay focused in this game too. Even though it was a bit back and forth at times, our well-coordinated dream team dominated the match and knew how to address the weak points here too. There was great celebration when the draw was actually sealed with the second set.

This point was important because it stabilized ARSV Katzwang in the lower third of the table when they met the team second in the table. The midfield is fiercely competitive. Two home games follow for the ARSV against other classic midfield candidates. It will be here on the 7th/8th. February will hopefully be exciting but successful in the south of Nuremberg.

Another fun fact at the end: The ARSV team has more individual game points in the table than league leaders Allersberg (like four other teams).
