Kalends Four: 12th at Winterberg World Cup

Only the German four made it into the top three. The first place was taken by the crew of the leader of the first race, Francesco Friedrich, who finished in one minute and 49.07 seconds. Friedrich beat Johannes Lohner by 0.02 seconds, while Adam Amour was 0.06 seconds behind in third.

In the first race, Kalenda with pushers Arni Bebriša, Dāva Kaufmani and Lauri Kaufmani achieved the 11th best time. In the second race, the Latvian foursome did not improve the result and, losing 0.79 seconds in total, shared 12th place with the Chinese crew.

On the other hand, Grantiņš with pushers Edgars Ungurus, Edgars Nemmi and Mairi Kļavas achieved only the 25th best result in the competition of 27 crews in the first race and did not qualify for the second race.

Lohner is the leader in the overall World Cup standings after five races of four-man crews with 1095 points, ahead of Friedrich by 45 points. Kalenda is in 12th place with 568 points, while Grantiņš is in 17th position with 418 points. Latvians are in second and fourth place respectively in the junior competition.

In the first round of the calendar, d’Ampezzo was 17th in Cortina, 12th in Innsbruck, and 18th and 10th in Lillehammer. Grantinš was in 20th, 21st, 13th and 12th place in these stages, respectively.

On Saturday, Grantiņš won a career-high 11th place in doubles, starting together with Ungurus, while Kalenda and Dāva Kaufmans were in 18th position.

This season, seven stages of the World Cup are scheduled as athletes fight for tickets to the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. In the continuation of the season, stages will be held in St. Moritz and Altenberg.
