Jordan Air Series 2: Women’s Basketball Design | Nike

Jordan Brand presents the Air Series 2 to help you outrun defenders. This is a new basketball shoe made to match the speed, passion, and artistry unique to women’s basketball.

Built with performance insights from bold and challenging athletes at all levels, the Jordan Brand Air Series 2 silhouette is optimized for agile cuts and changes of direction to help athletes push the pace. The push for new heights continues, and Jordan Brand is committed to inspiring the next generation of great athletes.

says Jordan Brand athlete and five-time WNBA All-Star Nafisa Collier. “Footwork is a very important part of my game, and the Air Series 2 is a performance shoe that provides flexibility and stability to allow me to be a strong presence on both offense and defense. Anyone who has watched me play will know that I have been a fan of the Air Series, but the innovation of the Air Series 2 has far exceeded my expectations.”

The game-optimized Air Series 2 is designed not only for female players, but for everyone on the court. This once again proves Jordan Brand’s commitment to expanding the base of women’s basketball and inspiring the next generation of great players.

The sleek silhouette builds on the previous model’s strengths on the run and cut moves that are so important in women’s basketball, while adding key improvements that add quicker agility to every step. These improvements come directly from insights from basketball players, allowing the new silhouette to continue supporting female athletes by leveraging NIKE, Inc.’s top-tier innovations.

The new Air Zoom unit applied to the forefoot provides excellent responsiveness, providing more attack opportunities and movement, and reliably supporting the fast pace of women’s basketball with agile and varied play. Additionally, the thicker drop-in Cushlon 3.0 midsole features an additional layer of foam cushioning on the outsole for added comfort and helps you outrun defenders.

The combination of Air Zoom and extra cushioning provides superior support while providing greater flexibility and agility. The translucent TPU cage provides a lightweight yet sturdy fit, and the rubber herringbone tread pattern further enhances agility and control.

This silhouette was designed with the unique characteristics of women’s basketball in mind. In a game where players spend more time on the court and create more attack opportunities, players desperately need shoes they can trust and wear until the end of the game.

Additional elements that pay homage to women’s basketball include a removable headband attached to the heel and a series of bold colorways that reflect the leading role female athletes have played in shaping the future of basketball culture.

“Women’s basketball is a very important part of the world of sports, and Jordan Brand is committed to helping the next generation of basketball players reach their own greatness. We named this shoe series ‘Air’ because we know that these incredible athletes are the next generation of athletes and deserve to take the basketball crown.” says Leo Chang, Jordan Brand Senior Creative Director of Basketball and Sports. “The Air Series 2 is a new version of our basketball shoe designed for women, by women. The new forefoot Air Zoom unit provides enhanced support and responsiveness to match the beautiful play style unique to women’s basketball.”

The Air series, first unveiled in 2024, was created based on Jordan Brand’s long-standing commitment to innovation while prioritizing women’s basketball. This legacy began in 1998 with the launch of the Women’s Air Jordan OG, the brand’s first women’s model. This was followed by numerous shoes created for Maya Moore, Air Jordan retail models tailored to female athletes, and player editions created in partnership with Jordan Brand athletes such as Kiki Rice and Kea Nurse. Jordan Brand’s basketball shoes are also available in plus sizes, providing products to fit the diverse needs of basketball players at all levels.

The Jordan Brand Air Series 2 silhouette will be available starting February 20th at Jordan.com and select retailers worldwide.
